For the last few months, I’ve been talking about payments and fraud in the U.S., and what I think we can do about it. I promised myself that I would get off this subject this month and talk about other important things–like next week’s [8th Annual Smart Cards in Government Conference](http://guest.cvent.com/EVENTS/Info/Summary.aspx?e=16a5abff-f8a7-4df6-abf6-279dcbaeb496), in Washington, DC.

I will get to that topic later, I promise. But before I do, I have to tell you a little about the great meeting that a few of our most engaged Contactless and Mobile Payments Council members and I attended with 25 or so big-name retailers.
