Smart Card Alliance Fall Conference to Provide Pan-American View of Smart Card Opportunities and Successes

Princeton Junction, NJ, August 17, 2005–The Smart Card Alliance, the authoritative voice for the rapidly growing smart card industry, will hold its 13th annual conference at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay, October 11–14, 2005. This premier event for North America has been expanded to cover opportunities emerging in Latin America and will showcase leaders and innovators in the use of smart cards across all industries and market segments in the Americas.

Smart Cards: The Issuer and User Experience” is the theme of this year’s conference. On the agenda are the most active and talked about initiatives for smart card use–contactless payments in retail and transportation, government ID cards and e-passports, physical and logical access security, healthcare, mobile telecom and payments initiatives, all from the perspective of industry stakeholders. “This conference is unique in bringing together technology providers, issuers and end users to interact and learn about advances and new trends that lie ahead,” said Randy Vanderhoof, executive director of the Smart Card Alliance.

This first-ever integrated Pan-American agenda will feature presentations by industry experts and end users, educational workshops, birds-of-a-feather discussion groups and networking events. At the annual awards luncheon, the Alliance will recognize winners of its Outstanding Smart Card Achievement (OSCA) awards. The newly formed Transportation, Contactless Payments, Healthcare and Physical Access Councils and the new Latin American chapter will meet concurrently with the conference to discuss future projects. Also, the Educational Institute smart card technology and applications workshop is offered as an additional registration option to all attendees.
