Smart Card Alliance Security of Things Conference Brings Security and Privacy to the Forefront of the Internet of Things
Security of Things 2016 to be held in Chicago this October 18-19, 2016
Princeton Junction, N.J., May 26, 2016 – The Smart Card Alliance has added a new event, the Security of Things 2016 conference, to provide a deep dive into security and privacy in the Internet of Things (IoT). With a history of success hosting events involving emerging markets and secure chip technology, the Smart Card Alliance is bringing together experts from both the IoT and security communities to analyze the impact embedded security technology is expected to have on connected cars, wearables, smart homes, smart cities, smart factories, identity and authentication, data integrity and privacy, IoT payment, standards and regulation and more.
The Alliance’s Security of Things conference will be held October 18-19, 2016 at the Hilton Rosemont Chicago O’Hare Hotel in Chicago. Conference details can be found at www.sca-securityofthings.com.
“In a world where connected devices are expected to reach 21 billion by the year 2020, we’re at a critical turning point where we need to ensure security is a top priority in IoT implementations,” said Randy Vanderhoof, executive director of the Smart Card Alliance. “This event provides a great opportunity to learn about these considerations, as well as the associated advantages and challenges across every market, including payments, transportation, industrial, consumer and healthcare.”
Keynotes, roundtables and panels will cover the most important developments, innovations and efforts driving security and privacy in IoT, and attendees will:
- Discover how different industries like payments, healthcare, smart cities, transportation and others are collaborating on standards and best practices for secure IoT frameworks
- Learn why the industry needs secure IoT architectures that incorporate embedded security and privacy
- Hear about the business issues for incorporating secure architectures into designs for connected devices
- Network with executives and thought leaders across all verticals of IoT
The Smart Card Alliance invites innovative thought leaders and experts interested in speaking at the event to submit a proposal by June 30, 2016. For more information on becoming a speaker, visit http://www.sca-securityofthings.com/call-for-speakers/.
In addition to the informative conference sessions, attendees will have access to the vendor showcase to learn more about innovative security products and services enabling secure IoT today and in the future.
The event comes as part of the Smart Card Alliance’s move to expand its focus to securing the IoT ecosystem. Also part of this effort, the Alliance announced the new Internet of Things Security Council to develop and promote best practices and provide educational resources on implementing secure IoT architectures using embedded security and privacy technology. The Council is interested in new organizations with an interest in IoT and security to join as members.
