Datacard Group Announces Enhancements to its Versatile Retransfer Card Printer
Card printer ideal for highly durable and secure government IDs
San Diego, CA, September 25, 2006–Datacard Group today introduced the Datacard® RP90 Plus card printer at the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) Seminar and Exhibition. An enhanced version of the Datacard® RP90 card printer, this retransfer printer allows government agencies to print on highly secure PVC and non-PVC card surfaces, including contact and contactless smart cards.
“The RP90 Plus card printer is ideal for government and image-conscience applications with technology cards,” said Connell Smith, vice president of desktop solutions for Datacard Group. “It offers the best image quality in its class for technology cards and specialty card stock at an affordable cost-per-card,” he said.
The RP90 Plus printer, which is compliant with the European Union’s Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive, prints directly on retransfer film that is then adhered to the card surface, producing high quality, edge-to-edge photo ID cards in less than 30 seconds. This technology allows for consistent printing and helps ensure adhesion in areas containing smart card chips and proximity card elements.
New user-focused features include an exception card slot, a feature rich printer driver, new agency certifications and a new ribbon identification system designed to identify the appropriate ribbon. These enhanced features, added to the highly successful RP90 printer, make the RP90 Plus printer the printer of choice in its category.
“Datacard Group is committed to delivering the technology security professionals worldwide demand for their card programs–especially those involving contact and contactless smart cards,” said Smith. “The RP90 Plus printer delivers the value, reliability and superior performance our government and high-end corporate customers have come to expect from us,” he said.
