Gemalto Advanced Card Personalization Center in Brazil Received ISO 9001 Quality Certification

Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Oct. 1, 2008–Gemalto (Euronext NL0000400653 GTO), the world leader in digital security, today announces that its advanced card personalization center located in Barueri, São Paulo has been awarded ISO 9001 certification. Gemalto adds this qualification to existing certifications from Visa and MasterCard, demonstrating its commitment to delivering premium quality products and services and achieving the highest levels of customer satisfaction.

The globally recognized ISO 9001 certification details stringent requirements for the implementation of quality management and effective formal processes that result in producing quality products and services that fulfill customers’ expectations. This certification is of major importance to Gemalto’s banking customers in Brazil, because it means that the center’s processes and Quality Management Systems are operating in a manner that is consistent with world-class quality standards. Environmental concerns and job safety are also top priorities at the facility like in all Gemalto locations.

Achieving this world-class certification just one year after the new facility opened is a tremendous achievement for the Gemalto team in Barueri.

“The training, process preparation and certification audit demanded a lot of hard work and dedication from all staff,” points out Luis Cohen, Gemalto’s commercial director for the Finance segment in the South Cone. “With the Personalization Center in Barueri, we are able to better respond to our region customers’ needs. The award of the ISO 9001 certification demonstrates our commitment towards world-class satisfaction of our customers,” he adds.

With the growth in the market and the ever-increasing security concerns of banks, Gemalto made a strategic decision to invest in a new the card personalization services center in Barueri. Gemalto inaugurated the Barueri facility in August 2007, regrouping its banking card personalization services in a new site. The objective was to expand its services to the growing latin american market, providing more flexibility and proximity to its customers.
