Gemalto Wins Prestigious Industry Award for Government-Certified Secure Flash Drive
AUSTIN, TX, June 1, 2010 – Gemalto, the world leader in digital security, announced that its government-certified Smart Guardian (SG) FIPS, a smart card-based encrypted USB drive, received the Outstanding Innovation in Security Technology Award at the Smart Card Alliance 2010 Annual Conference in Arizona.
“To be the first recipient of the Innovation in Security Technology award from the Alliance is a great achievement for us, and a testament to the way Gemalto solves real world security challenges,” said Paul Beverly, president of Gemalto North America. “The SG FIPS provides protection of confidential data-at-rest for government employees that are increasingly working on laptops or other mobile devices, in the convenience of a zero-footprint USB removable media drive.”
The Smart Card Alliance also recognized several Gemalto executives for their contribution and achievements in Alliance projects and activities. Neville Pattinson, Vice President of Government Affairs, was recognized as a leading figure in the Alliance Identity Council; Michael Magrath, Director of Business Development for Government and Healthcare, was recognized as a top contributor to the Alliance Healthcare Council; and Jack Jania, Vice President, Secure Transactions, was recognized for his work in the Alliance Contactless and Mobile Payments Council.
“Our active participation in the Smart Card Alliance is extremely important to us, as it gives us the opportunity to share our experience and collaborate with members of the North American smart card industry on projects that educate these markets and bring tangible benefit to everyone–the providers, issuers, and end users of the technology,” added Beverly.
