Gemalto’s U.S. Center Achieves Security Assurance Certification from the North American Security Products Organization

Arlington, Virginia, May 13, 2009 – Gemalto, the world leader in digital security, today announced its advanced manufacturing and service center in Montgomeryville, Penn. has received the Security Assurance Certification from the North American Security Products Organization (NASPO). This qualification is a major accomplishment elevating Gemalto’s Pennsylvania facility to an elite tier of security technology suppliers. The NASPO auditing/certification process provides an independent, standards-based accreditation that Gemalto fulfills contractual security requirements, applies a solid framework of security practices and procedures and follows established best practices.

“Security certification under the NASPO standard is particularly important to our U.S. federal government end-users, but all of our clients benefit from it,” said Neville Pattinson, vice president of Government Affairs, Gemalto North America. “Independently verified security requirements are becoming common in qualification and contract procedures as our customers increase efforts to reduce their risks and protect their supply chains. The NASPO Certification, and our other security certifications in telecom and banking, demonstrates Gemalto’s commitment and ability to meet the most rigorous standards.”

Gemalto is a member of the World Class Manufacturing Consortium, and now part of the NASPO organization as well. Gemalto’s Montgomeryville facility has also received the Security Accreditation Scheme (SAS) certification from the GSM Association; ISO 9001/2000 certification for its state-of-the-art quality management; ISO 14001/2004 certification for its superior environmental management; and certification for secure production of banking cards from American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa.

The North American Security Products Organization is a non-profit, ANSI accredited standards developer, focused on developing security standards and auditing for the security products industry. The organization’s goal is to bring a recognized level of security assurance and creditability to the North American security products industry. Members represent many industry sectors including currency, negotiable and non-negotiable secure documents, brand integrity, identity documents, security software and packaging.
