InfoGard Becomes the 2nd IT Security Laboratory in the USA to Achieve GSA FIPS 201 Evaluation Approval

SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA–InfoGard (http://www.InfoGard.com) has achieved FIPS 201 General Services Administration Evaluation Program (EP) Lab Approval, making them the second IT security lab in the United States to provide Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12 (HSPD-12) evaluations for the GSA. This distinction will allow customers to achieve the certifications and approvals necessary to sell their respective FIPS 201 compliant IT products and services to Federal Agencies.

In 2004, HSPD-12 was issued to establish a mandatory government-wide standard for all IT products and services used by government agencies. The Directive requires the most secure and reliable form of identification credentials from employees and contractors. InfoGard is one of only two approved labs in the country that provide the required GSA environment and possess the security engineering skill set to work with vendors to validate FIPS 201 product or service compliance; a prerequisite for agencies as they implement compliant solutions per HSPD-12.

“We are excited about the opportunity to help our customers achieve the approvals they need to sell their products to Federal agencies,” says Tom Caddy, InfoGard CEO. “Adding this service to our portfolio of IT security testing will allow our customers to garner efficiencies, help them expedite certification and hopefully accelerate sales.”

InfoGard has a thorough understanding of the applicable FIPS 201 requirements needed by their customers’ respective products and services and can help them achieve the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) directive which states that Federal agencies purchase only products and services that are compliant with the Federal policy, standards and numerous supporting technical specifications.
