In this new role, Giakoumis will be responsible for developing marketing initiatives that address the growing international demand for secure ID credentials incorporating customized combinations of secure machine readable technologies.
Giakoumis joins LaserCard with over 20 years of international marketing and business development experience in the smart card industry and was a Member of the Smart Card Alliance’s Executive Board from 2000 to 2006. In response to market demand, LaserCard has developed a stream of new processes and capabilities allowing it to combine optical media with commonly used machine-readable technologies such as barcodes, optical character recognition, contact and contactless chips, RFID tags and magnetic stripes. “Alex is an influential and highly respected member of our community,” said Randy Vanderhoof, Executive Director of the Smart Card Alliance. “With Alex on board to lead their strategy for teaming with the smart card community, I look forward to seeing LaserCard positioned to address the increasing opportunities for ID solutions that integrate chip technologies with optical security media.”
