LEGIC® license partnership enables Atron Systems AG to expand its innovative contactless product offering

Zurich, Bronschhofen–LEGIC Identsystems Ltd, the leading manufacturer of contactless smart card systems for personal identification applications, and Atron Systems AG, international supplier of ticket sales systems and administration software for transport companies, sign a license agreement. Using LEGIC smart card technology will allow Atron to equip its existing products for contactless operation and take another leap forward thanks to intelligent product innovation.

In the future, requirements in the transport sector will be increasingly shaped by individual customers’ needs, increased cost pressures and fierce competition. Atron Systems AG supplies products, services and support for traffic and transport companies ranging from onboard computers precisely tailored to suit a particular enterprise, ultramodern ticket machines and passenger information systems through to comprehensive central software with complete marketing and sales modules. Atron equipment can be customised and combined at the customer’s premises to suit the intended usage. Equipment is mutually compatible and easy to manage through a central software system. Atron is now using LEGIC smart card technology to expand its product range in the area of 13.56 MHz contactless personal identification. In doing so, the company is not only adapting to developments in the area of contactless guest and tourist cards, it is also providing its customers with solutions that include a high level of protection for their investment and extra convenience for end users.

Atron Systems AG was founded in December 2003 in Switzerland as an affiliate of Munich company Atron Electronic GmbH. The firm is based in Bronschhofen and is Atron’s main sales and service base in Switzerland. The Munich parent company has been successfully active in the market for 26 years and has recently significantly grown its international business in Scandinavia, in particular, as well as in Switzerland. It also has branches in Sweden, Austria, Croatia and the Czech Republic.

“For many of our customers, we are now the outstanding, innovative and efficient systems supplier with a comprehensive product range. We are constantly developing our offering as we endeavour to cope with ever more exacting market requirements. We are now marketing some products that can also be equipped with LEGIC contactless smartcard technology. This license partnership with LEGIC will allow us to expand our offering on the basis of this modern technology and enable us to continue servicing our customers’ needs with innovative contactless solutions based on LEGIC smart card technology in the future”, claims Klaus Koenen, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Atron Systems AG, the new licence partner.

Stephen Neff, Vice President Sales & Business Development at LEGIC Identsystems Ltd, also welcomes this new partner in the LEGIC network: “We are impressed by Atron’s clear concepts, technically high-quality solutions, skilled employees and first-rate price performance ratio. No wonder the company’s customers include well-known transport enterprises both at home and abroad. We warmly welcome Atron to our network.”
