Little Rock National Airport to Use Bioscrypt’s Fingerprint and HID’s iCLASS Technology for Enhanced Facility Security

Deployment Encompasses over Five Thousand Users

TORONTO, ON and VAN NUYS, CA, Sept. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/–(TSX:BYT) Bioscrypt Inc., a leading provider of advanced fingerprint technology, announced today that Little Rock National Airport has installed a state-of-the- art security system featuring Bioscrypt fingerprint readers and HID’s new iCLASS contactless smart card technology to enhance security throughout the airport for approximately 5,000 users.

Little Rock airport has already deployed over 100 Bioscrypt V-Smart iCLASS readers for facility security. The fingerprint readers with integrated HID iCLASS 13.56 MHz read/write contactless smart card technology, restrict access to high profile sites within the airport. The V-Smart reader stores fingerprint templates directly on iCLASS contactless smart cards giving users added security and privacy.

“Airports in the USA and abroad have tested different types of biometric technologies in an effort to comply to the proposed recommendations by the Transportation Security Authority (TSA). Fingerprinting, clearly the most mature and reliable of all the biometrics, will be the primary technology deployed for airports in 2004,” said Julia Webb, vice president of global sales and marketing for Bioscrypt. “For the past six years, Bioscrypt has focused on compatibility between our reader line and access control systems from principal providers. As a result, we are well positioned with proven solutions like the V-Smart iCLASS to meet the increasing requirements from airports worldwide.”

Airports worldwide are seeing the benefits of Bioscrypt’s advanced fingerprint technology as they implement security systems to combat international terrorism. “Strong technology partnerships, such as that of Bioscrypt and HID, provide superior new security solutions to end-users,” said Marian Pefley, director of product management for biometric technologies for HID. “The use of the iCLASS credential will also allow Little Rock Airport to consider implementation of other security applications based on the use of the existing HID iCLASS credential.”

Little Rock National airport is, the 79th largest commercial service airport in the nation, handling about 2.6 million passengers annually.
