MasterCard Completes PayPass Deployment with New York Giants

Giants Stadium Vendors will Accept PayPass to Offer Fans Speed and Convenience While Buying Food, Drinks and Merchandise

Purchase, NY, September 07, 2005–MasterCard International today announced that the New York Giants Football Club will accept MasterCard® PayPass™, a new contactless payment option using radio frequency (RF) technology, for point-of-sale purchases made at Giants Stadium vendors, beginning with the home opener of the 2005 football season. Giants Stadium is also a new acceptance location for all MasterCard cards.

“The New York Giants are continuously seeking opportunities to enhance the in-stadium experience for our fans. The speed and convenience of PayPass give fans the benefit of quicker on-site transactions, allowing them to get back to their seats without missing action on the field of play,” said Rusty Hawley, vice president of marketing, New York Giants. “We are excited to be working with MasterCard to offer our fans a fast and convenient way to pay.”

MasterCard PayPass cardholders simply tap their PayPass-enabled MasterCard card on a specially-equipped terminal at all permanent concessions and retail areas to purchase food, refreshments and souvenirs at Giants home games this season. Payment is completed quickly, securely and easily, without the hassle of swiping a card, fumbling for cash and coins, or signing a receipt. Moments after the cardholder taps his or her PayPass-enabled MasterCard card, account details are communicated to the terminal and then processed through the MasterCard secure network for clearing and settlement.

“Giants fans who want to call the perfect play for all their in-stadium purchases will be relying on PayPass,” said Fred P. Gore, senior vice president, North America Acceptance, MasterCard International. “With PayPass, fans will be able to quickly and securely complete their transactions, return to their seats and enjoy the game they came to see.”

The following merchants have announced that they will accept MasterCard PayPass: participating McDonald’s, 7-Eleven stores, CVS, Ritz Camera Centers, Boater’s World Marine Centers, Sheetz, Regal Entertainment Group theatres (Regal Cinemas, United Artists Theatres and Edwards Theatres), Duane Reade and Meijer Stores. PayPass is also accepted at QWEST Field, M&T Bank Stadium, Lincoln Financial Field and FedExField, homes of the National Football League’s Seattle Seahawks, Baltimore Ravens, Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Redskins, respectively.
