New Datacard Profile Manager and Script Interpreter Brings Speed, Simplicity and Savings to Smart Card Issuance

New software based on GlobalPlatform profiling and scripting standards v1.1.0

Paris, France, November 18, 2003–Datacard Group today introduced smart card profile manager and script interpreter software that greatly simplifies and streamlines the issuance of both single- and multi-application smart cards. The company demonstrated these new products at CARTES 2003 today in Paris.

The new profile manager and script interpreter products allow card issuers to take any GlobalPlatform profile and/or personalization script written to GlobalPlatform standards and run it on Datacard personalization systems to do card personalization.

“Smart card issuers need to personalize multiple applications on a variety of card types using any number of card personalization systems,” said Mike Schnaus, vice president of marketing and corporate development for Datacard Group. “Datacard will use GlobalPlatform profiles and scripting as the basis of future personalization solutions.”

“This approach gives card issuers flexibility for the future,” Schnaus added. “For example, our new software will allow issuers to support new smart card applications and card types with the simple addition of GlobalPlatform profiles.”

The Datacard GlobalPlatform profile manager and script interpreter products run in conjunction with the Datacard® Smart Card Personalization Manager (SCPM), a server-based software solution that allows card issuers to store applications and manage multiple card issuance systems from a single, central location.

“Our SCPM software, combined with the GlobalPlatform profile manager and script interpreter products, allows card issuers to capitalize quickly and cost-effectively on new smart card opportunities as they emerge,” Schnaus said. “Even if they are only issuing native OS single-application cards today, implementing this solution is a smart investment. It creates a foundation for a scalable and upgradeable smart card program that provides customers the flexibility to migrate from a pilot program to a full scale production including multi-application cards with minimal additional investment.”
