Tully’s Coffee to Accept MasterCard PayPass at All Retail Locations

“Tap & Go” Payment Option Offers Customers a Faster, Easier Way to Pay

Seattle, WA, February 08, 2007–MasterCard Worldwide and Tully’s Coffee Corporation (Tully’s) announced today that all Tully’s corporate owned retail locations will accept MasterCard® PayPass™. MasterCard PayPass is a fast, cashless payment option that will allow customers to pay for their Tully’s purchases by simply tapping their PayPass-enabled MasterCard card or device on a PayPass reader. Tully’s is a fully handcrafted coffee roaster with more than 350 branded locations in Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho and Arizona. With the help of Chockstone, Tully’s strategic payment processing provider, the implementation of PayPass acceptance at all of Tully’s 90 corporate owned retail locations began in the fourth quarter of 2006 and will be completed by the first quarter of 2007.

“Tully’s is continually looking for ways to reward our customers and make their coffee shop experience even more enjoyable and hassle free,” said John Buller, president and CEO of Tully’s. “We are excited to accept MasterCard PayPass because we know how important efficiency is at the counter and the ‘tap and go’ technology will ensure that our customers are getting the best, most effective service every time.”

With MasterCard PayPass, consumers no longer need to fumble for cash and coins or swipe a card for purchases. Users simply tap their PayPass-enabled card or device on the PayPass reader, which significantly speeds the retail checkout process. With the PayPass option, customers do not have to sign receipts for purchases under $25, which further speeds the payment process. In addition to this new payment option, Tully’s will continue to accept traditional magnetic-stripe payment cards.

“Tully’s Coffee is an innovator that understands the positive impact MasterCard PayPass can have on the quality of the customer experience,” said T.J. Sharkey, Group Head, National Accounts, U.S. Commerce Development, MasterCard Worldwide. “Most consumers want to grab their coffee quickly and MasterCard PayPass at Tully’s will help keep lines moving swiftly so that customers can do just that.”
