VeriFone showcases wireless and countertop payment solutions at Cards Middle East

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, April 20, 2009 – VeriFone will be exhibiting at Cards Middle East at the Al Bustan Rotana Hotel in Dubai on 18-19 May 2009, as part of its continued strategy to build relationships in the Middle East and expand market share in the region. Currently, VeriFone has the largest market share of any payment technology vendor in the Middle East, with a presence in most Middle Eastern countries, including United Arab Emirates, Oman, Kuwait, Saudi, Bahrain, Qatar and Egypt.

Chip and PIN payment systems have seen significant growth in the region and many acquiring banks are also looking to pilot contactless technology. There is also strong interest in VeriFone’s PAYware technology and its application in electronic top-up payment systems.

Mark O’Flynn, Sales Director for Africa and the Middle East comments: “The Middle East is a fast-moving market for electronic payments. Currently, almost every bank and petroleum company in the region chooses to rely on VeriFone technology. There is very strong interest in the latest payment technology, such as contactless, and Cards Middle East is an excellent opportunity for banks and retailers to review new products and build relationships.”

At the show VeriFone will be featuring its full range of electronic payment systems, including the Vx 810 DUET, a dual-user payment solution which combines a Vx 810 hand-over PIN pad with a countertop base station housing the communication ports and thermal printer. The DUET also includes an optional contactless module that can be added at any time.

Also on display will be the newest member of the MX series, the MX880, a wide-screen consumer-facing device which is highly versatile for both payment and multimedia customer messaging. The MX880 is also available with an optional contactless module, that can be added as and when a merchant needs. Leading mobile retailer Zain currently uses one of VeriFone’s MX devices, the MX870, as in-store customer service points throughout Saudia Arabia.
