Videotron Selects Gemalto 3G SIM Card Solution as it Targets Growth in Canadian Wireless Subscribers’ Market

CTIA WIRELESS 2009, Las Vegas, April 2, 2009 – Gemalto, the world leader in digital security, today announced Videotron has selected Gemalto’s 3G Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) card solution to provide secure connectivity for wireless phone and data services on its High Speed Packet Access (HSPA) network in Canada.

Videotron Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Quebecor Media Inc., is an integrated communications company engaged in cable television and in cable telephony. Videotron is the Québec leader in high-speed Internet access with more than one million cable modems in its network, and has more than 63,000 client lines in wireless telephony. Last year, Canada auctioned new spectrum to open the doors for new market entrants, and as a successful bidder, Videotron is planning significant growth in its wireless business.

Videotron’s implementation of HSPA has significant advantages for their customer base. This provides customers with more mobility options reinforcing Videotron’s customer retention.
