Wim Duisenberg to strengthen Giesecke & Devrient’s Advisory Board

Munich, May 14, 2004–On May 12, 2004, the Shareholders’ Meeting of Giesecke & Devrient GmbH invited Wim Duisenberg, former President of the European Central Bank, to join the company’s Advisory Board. Wim Duisenberg (68) will advise our enterprise on important matters. As first President of the European Central Bank, Wim Duisenberg played a decisive role during the establishment of the European Economic and Monetary Union from 1998 up to expiry of his term of office in July 2003. After five years at the head of the ECB, a five-year period as Dutch Minister of Finance and 15 years as Governor of the Central Bank of the Netherlands, the high-profile economics and finance expert will now contribute his outstanding knowledge and experience to our organization, actively supporting the work of Giesecke & Devrient’s eight-member Advisory Board. The body’s task is to advise the Board of Directors on strategic decisions.
