The social media-based contest is open through November 11, 2011 to users of the Atlanta Breeze Card, Los Angeles Tap Card, Minneapolis Go-To Card and Miami/South Florida Easy Card. At APTA, attendees can view and vote from among the Front Runner Finalists, whose early entries are leading the online public votes to date in each card system. Cubic sponsored the contest and is offering a total of $13,000 in cash prizes to the winners.

“This is a an opportunity for us to work in partnership with our transit agency clients to see how our contactless payment fare collection systems positively impact consumers’ transit experiences,” said Matt Cole, senior vice president, strategy and business development of Cubic. “Contactless and open payment for fare collection are the direction of transit systems all over the world. This contest serves as a way to show how contactless payment simplifies transit use both for agencies and the consumer.”

Cubic was the first transit supplier to roll out contactless smart cards in the late 1980s and continues to lead the industry with many successful deployments of complete multi-modal smart card systems worldwide.

The video contest is in full swing and submissions in the first round of online public voting on the iheartmycard.com contest sites’ YouTube channels will run through November 11.
