ASSA ABLOY Identification Technology Group (ITG) Forms Access ID

June 5, 2002–ASSA ABLOY’S Identification Technology Group (ITG) announced the formation of a new company, Access ID, based in Seattle, WA. Access ID will develop and supply custom technology cards–focusing primarily on contactless technology.

Access ID will specialize in full graphic customization of cards, including high resolution four-color lithography and embedded anti-counterfeiting features. The new company will also provide multiple composite formulations engineered to meet high durability requirements.

Dennis Caulley, formerly CEO of Caulastics, has been named Vice President of Card Services for Access ID. “Today, the need to provide unique, secure credentials for every ID application is tremendous,” said Marc Freundlich, Vice President of Business Development for ASSA ABLOY ITG. “Dennis has 20 years of business experience in the ID market. We are pleased to have him involved in the formation of Access ID.”

“Requests for custom cards incorporating security elements such as holograms, digital watermarks and other optical variable devices (OVD) are becoming more common,” said Dennis Caulley. “There is also increased demand from vertical market sectors such as corporate and university campuses for unique photo ID and card printing capabilities. Access ID will meet customer needs for these types of specialty cards.”
