Atmel’s Secure 32-bit ARM System-On-Chip Microcontroller Awarded Common Criteria EAL4+ Certification

The First Secure System-on-Chip Awarded Common Criteria EAL4+ Certification

Rousset, France, September 23, 2008–Atmel® Corporation (Nasdaq: ATML) is proud to announce that the AT91S0100 and its derivatives have been granted Common Criteria certification EAL4+. This vulnerability assessment corresponds to today’s highest proven resistance against any security attack (AVA_VLA4). The AT91SO family is compliant with EMV and PCI PED standards.

The AT91SO100 is the first secure microcontroller platform for trusted electronic transaction terminals that has been awarded a Common Criteria EAL4+ certification. The Atmel devices with this certification are ideal for applications such as e-payment, e-government, identity and IP protection. Providing a higher level of security, Atmel’s certified devices are an optimal choice for new designs.

Based on the ARM® SecurCore™ SC100 CPU, the AT91SO100 features 256 Kbytes of EEPROM program and data memory and 100 Kbytes of RAM. It offers an impressive set of cryptographic features, the AdvX™ crypto accelerator, strong security mechanisms, firewalls, environmental protections (mesh, switches, secure packages) and backup area (RTC, master keys).

“Being awarded the Common Criteria EAL4+ Certification enhances our leadership in the secure microcontroller market,” commented David Richetto, Atmel’s Marketing Manager for Embedded Security.
