Datacard Begins Shipping Versatile New Desktop Card Printer

Company accelerates shipments to meet strong demand for new Datacard SP55 card printer

Minnetonka, Minn., January 26, 2004–Datacard Group today began shipping their new, technologically advanced desktop card printer that offers a variety of enhanced features, including 180 card-per-hour print speed, with edge-to-edge imaging as well as optional duplex printing, magnetic stripe encoding and smart card personalization. The company unveiled the new Datacard® SP55 card printer at the CARTES 2003 Exhibition in Paris in November.

“The tremendous response we received in Paris clearly shows that there is a strong market demand for this powerful new printer,” said Mike Schnaus, vice president of marketing and corporate development for Datacard Group. “In addition to traditional corporate badging and student ID applications, the combination of speed, simplicity and price makes it a perfect solution for retailers, hospitals, resorts, hotels, casinos and other organizations looking to improve security or build customer loyalty.”

“For experienced card issuers, the Datacard SP55 card printer integrates all of the features and capabilities they want most into one compact, desktop unit,” Schnaus said. “For organizations launching their first card programs, it delivers plug-and-play simplicity and an exceptionally low cost-per-card.”

The new printer is compatible with the Datacard world-leading portfolio of identification software, capture solutions and card program accessories. “Organizations looking to configure the right card issuance system for their particular application have more options and more flexibility than ever before,” Schnaus said.
