Joseph J. Grillo to Head the ASSA ABLOY Global Technologies Group (GTG)
February 3, 2004–Joseph J. Grillo, president and chief executive officer of the ASSA ABLOY Identification Technology Group (ITG), has been promoted to executive vice president of parent company ASSA ABLOY AB. As a member of the company’s Stockholm-based executive team, Mr. Grillo will report to Mr. Bo Dankis, chief executive officer of ASSA ABLOY AB.
In addition, Mr. Grillo will operate as president and chief executive officer of ASSA ABLOY’s Global Technologies Group, a $700 million worldwide business comprised of ASSA ABLOY Hospitality, the Identification Technology Group (ITG), and Besam (door automatics). Mr. Grillo will maintain his responsibility as president and chief executive officer of ITG.
In addition to his responsibilities within ASSA ABLOY, Grillo also serves as the president of the Security Industry Association (SIA). His two-year term commenced in October 2003.
In April 1993, Grillo joined HID Corporation as the national sales manager. He was promoted to executive vice president of sales and marketing in 1999, and chief operating officer in 2000. In January of 2001, he was named president and chief executive officer of HID Corporation when HID Corporation was acquired by ASSA ABLOY. In January of 2002 he was promoted to head up the newly-formed ASSA ABLOY Identification Technology Group as president and chief executive officer.
