Gemalto Provides First Multi-Application EMV Cards in Colombia

São Paulo, Sept 13, 2011–Gemalto, the world leader in digital security, announces that it is providing Colsubsidio, the major Compensation Fund in Colombia, with the country’s first multi-application EMV cards.

The Multi Service Membership Card provides all Colsubsidio members with the security of EMV payment, combined with a wide range of services. These services include an e-purse application, admittance to recreational parks, as well as access to sport and convention centers. The contactless feature of the card provides easy and convenient access to public transportation in the city of Bogota. Gemalto also supplied Colsubsidio with a software solution for in-house card personalization as well as technical support during the launching phase.

Gemalto’s digital security technology enables Colsubsidio to integrate all of their services and those of their partners on to one single card. The Multi Service Membership Card affords users a more enjoyable experience, where they can “wave” their way onto public transportation, access participating venues, and securely pay for goods and services, with a convenient, all-in-one solution.
