Ingenico and Mercury Deliver Advanced Payment Solutions to U.S. Based Specialty Retail and Hospitality Merchants
Atlanta, GA.–July 9, 2013–Ingenico, leading worldwide provider of payment solutions, and Mercury, a leading provider of payment processing, today announced their partnership and the certification of Telium2 series traditional fixed point-of-sale (POS) and smart mobile payment devices. The certification extends to Ingenico’s retail-based application (RBA) and its hardware, including iSC Touch 250/350 terminals, iPP350 PIN Pad, and the iSMP, a smart mobile payment device. All certified devices will be integrated to support MercuryShield® End-to-End Encryption (E2E) security solution, helping to reduce the cost and effort involved for merchant’s seeking PCI compliance.
“Our partnership with Mercury is a perfect example of a technological partnership which will bring successful benefit on multiple levels,” said Scott Tubbs, Senior Vice President of Retail Sales for Ingenico, North America. “It will further enhance Ingenico’s North American market reach and help Mercury’s customers address new payment acceptance challenges by providing them with the most relevant and comprehensive POS technology solutions.”
Together the two companies have created a powerful payment processing and secure hardware framework that can be effectively leveraged by Mercury’s network of more than 500 independent software vendors (ISVs) and 2,500 value-added resellers. Specifically, developers can use the combined framework and devices to create the next value-added payment application for specialty retailers and hospitality merchants.
“Point of sale solutions are becoming increasingly complex, and ISVs are now forced to choose technologies and hope they maintain relevancy in the future,” said John Berkley, Senior Vice President of Product for Mercury. “By integrating Ingenico’s Telium-based POS technology with our payment processing platform, we are offering our partner network a fast and reliable solution to extend and improve their POS system, while future-proofing it against rapid industry changes.”
Island Pacific, one of Mercury’s certified ISVs, has already successfully utilized the new framework to roll out a multi-purpose and reliable POS solution across several Peek Aren’t You Curious clothing retail locations in the U.S. The MercuryShield E2E security solution encrypts cardholder data immediately at the time of swipe, using the iSC Touch 250 devices. Cardholder data remains encrypted throughout the transaction process and Island Pacific efficiently upgraded the existing retail POS system with the capability to accept all forms of payment including EMV and NFC transactions, as well as combining it with a robust inventory and retail store management software.
“As a solution provider, we are always looking for a strong partnership to enhance our current offerings,” said Richard Gaetano, Chief Operating Officer, Island Pacific Systems Inc. “Both Ingenico and Mercury have world-class solutions that we can bundle and offer with our Island Pacific Store solution. It also completely supports our mobile offerings which will enable our customers to leverage a standard payment platform across all our omni-channel offerings.”
Ingenico’s iSMP, integrated with Mercury’s processing platform, takes a smart mobile payment device and combines an iPhone® and iPod touch® transforming the device into an EMV Chip & PIN secure mobile payment solution. Island Pacific is already under way running lab pilots with several US-based merchants, leveraging the Telium-based mobile device to help its retailer customers introduce mobile payments into their existing POS infrastructure. The company plans a full POS rollout for later this summer.
