Stuttgart/Germany, Dubai/United Arab Emirates, 19 October, 2009–Digital Identification Solutions AG, a leading international supplier of identification solutions, has announced a new Professional Line Printer Program including the new, highly secure EDIsecure® XID 9300 and 9330 Retransfer Printers. Based on the long and reliable field experience with retransfer technology at more than 6.000 installations, these new retransfer printers are the premium solution in desktop printing and part of the company’s most comprehensive launch of new products and solutions in the recent months.

Based on the proven EDIsecure® XID 5xxie platforms, the XID 9300 and XID 9330 are designed for high-volume card production and environments where maximum security is required. The majority of the internal parts is build using the extremely rugged and reliable heavy-duty construction which had made the XID 5xxie series become the most reliable retransfer printers in the markets since many years. Even the whole ribbon program, consisting of five distinct versions plus the long lasting XID ART retransfer film, is fully compatible with the XID 5xxie series so that customers and distribution partners can leverage from the existing media portfolio without any changes.

All EDIsecure® XID 93xx printers are again the only retransfer printers in the market which can truly–and reliably–print even on long lasting cards such as ABS, Polyester (PET) and even Polycarbonate (PC). Card thicknesses from 0.25 mm (10 mils) up to a stunning 2.0 mm (80 mils) are supported. Providing utmost security and flexibility by using various optional external modules, they are the most versatile, full-color retransfer printers in the professional desktop segment and extremely fast due to portrait mode printing. Advanced Intelligent Printer Management (Advanced IPM) and the impressive output of up to 840 cards per hour makes the EDIsecure® XID 9330 remain the most powerful and cost efficient personalization solution in this segment.

Equipped with security locks allowing access to the supplies and consumables only to authorized personnel, the printers easily handle all secure ID card project needs of government agencies, card-service providers, as well as multinational corporations and organizations. Customers can choose from several lock codes so that even the lock for the card drawer can be different from the lock for the ribbon compartment. In a card production environment using multiple printers customers can even select the same lock codes for all of their machines in the room. Also a lockable output card-hopper is in preparation. Internal card flipper, detachable card drawer for 300 cards, convenient front loading of supplies, highest ribbon capacity with up to 1000 prints, bend remedy station for flat ISO compliant cards, and a removable cleaning roller unit for reliable, steady card cleaning and continuous operation are provided within this new printer family as well. The printers offer optional magnetic stripe and smart card encoding, making them the right personalization solution, especially for technology cards with contact- and contactless interfaces. Another optional external module is the EDIsecure® CSM 2, a credential scanning module for government and card-service bureau applications, allowing the scanning of ID cards with optional OCR recognition as well as the reading of barcodes on pre-printed cards. Barcode reading accepts all kinds of barcodes.

To make ID cards and the personalization more secure all EDIsecure® XID 93xx printers are provided with diverse security features such as the unique dye-sublimation UV print ribbon for invisible security printing, IPSEC for encrypted data transfer through Ethernet networks, and Security Erase of printed black data on used supplies. In the XID 9330 model, a firmware embedded password prevents even the use of the device in case it had been stolen. The dye- sublimation UV print ribbon is available only within the group’s Certified Security Technology Provider (CSTP) Partner program and allows on-demand printing of the cardholder’s image or other data such as variable text, logos, emblems, symbols or coat of arms with high-resolution gradient UV-ink in photographic quality. When activating this security feature, the printer will print an invisible, unique machine tracking code onto the card, making it easy for investigation authorities to trace back the point of origin where the card had been produced.

The life time and security of the cards can be extended by joining a XID 93xx printer with the EDIsecure® Inline Lamination Module ILM for single- and double-sided lamination. Of course also this ILM is equipped with a lockable cartridge so that only authorized personnel has access to the secure material. Also, multiple locking codes are selectable by the customer for utmost security and operating convenience. The use of the new EDIsecure® ILM-DS for simultaneous double- sided lamination is in preparation as well. A wide variety of laminating media is available: clear and holographic patches in various thicknesses, patches with chip cut-out for contact chip cards as well as holographic overlays. Again, the full portfolio of existing laminate products, as it had been used since many years in the proven ILU Lamination Unit, is fully compatible to the new program.

The XID 9330 Retransfer Printer, with its password protection, can be joined with the EDIsecure® LCP 9000 Laser Color Personalization System, the world’s first modular desktop card production system which combines the quality of color retransfer printing with the ultimate security of laser engraving and lamination as well as many other optional modules.
