Oberthur Technologies’ New ID-One™ PIV Smart Card added to the GSA Approved Products List

Chantilly, VA, November 17, 2010–Oberthur Technologies, a global leader in the delivery of high security solutions and the #1 provider of PIV-based smart cards to the U.S. Federal government, is proud to announce that its latest generation of PIV cards, ID-One™ PIV with large memory and SP800-73-3 features, has been listed on the General Services Administration (GSA) Approved Products List (APL).

The GSA APL serves as a buying guide for all US Federal Government Agencies to assure that the products and services they are purchasing are in compliance with the current guidelines and technical specifications. Over 40 government agencies and corporate offices outside the United States also look to the APL before making purchases because of the thorough testing and evaluation the GSA puts products and solutions through.

Oberthur Technologies’ ID-One™ PIV is a physical and logical security access card solution that provides identity proofing, general authentication services and secures post issuance management. ID-One™ PIV offers a fingerprint match-on-card implementation which provides the ability to perform cardholder verification and authentication inside the card. It is the only smart card to date with a match-on-card implementation validated by both FIPS 140-2 and Minex II. Other new features include stronger cryptographic algorithms, key history and iris image from SP800-73-3¹.

Initially designed for all Federal employees and contractors, ID-One™ PIV can also be issued by non-federal issuers. PIV and the non-federal version, PIV-I, is a cornerstone credential for all security controls to manage both information resources and facilities protection.

ID-One™ PIV received the “2010 Product Innovation Award” from Network Products Guide in the Smart Card category and is a previous winner of Security Products magazine’s “New Product of the Year Award” in the Access Control category.

“We focus on meeting our nation’s security interests by providing award-winning secure products and systems that meet the latest government standards while ensuring interoperability and backwards compatibility,” said Patrick W. Hearn, Oberthur Technologies’ VP of Government and Identification Markets–Americas. “This unified focus, coupled with constant communication with our 90+ government agency clients, ensures Oberthur Technologies consistently meets Government objectives of best value now and in the future.”

All manufacturing for the U.S. Government takes place at the company’s secured Exton, PA-based ISO 9001 and 14001 facility with personalization primarily taking place in its Chantilly, VA facility. Along with security printing, card manufacturing and personalization, Oberthur Technologies also deploys complete machine agnostic common personalization system software for federal agencies with in-house personalization.

Oberthur Technologies (booth #203) is a key sponsor of the Smart Cards in Government, Identity, Security and Healthcare Conference and Expo, taking place November 16-19, at the Washington Convention Center in Washington DC.
