LaserCard Showcases Innovative Multi-Purpose ID Cards at 9th Annual Smart Card in Government: Identity, Security & Healthcare Conference
Mountain View, Calif., Nov. 16, 2010–LaserCard Corporation (NASDAQ:LCRD; http://www.lasercard.com), a leading provider of secure ID solutions, will highlight its multi-technology smart card solutions at the 9th Annual Smart Card in Government: Identity, Security & Healthcare Conference to be held Nov. 16-19, 2010 in Washington, DC. The Company will showcase its innovative approach to integrating multiple ID technologies on a single ID card, addressing the expanding security and functional needs of government ID programs around the world. LaserCard Corporation’s booth is #207.
The rapid expansion of government identity and security initiatives, including expanded government efforts to improve and implement secure electronic medical records, is driving innovation in identity applications ranging from Patient ID to e-government to border crossing. One example is the trend toward multi-technology ID cards, which governments worldwide are embracing as they seek to combine multi-functionality with the best attributes of today’s ID credentials: high security, durability, and ease of authentication in a single ID card.
LaserCard’s new U.S. Green Card and the Carabinieri (Italian Police Force) ID Card are models of the effective layering of ID technologies in the highest security applications. Earlier this year, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security began issuing the new Green Cards, which feature LaserCard’s advanced optical security media, and for the first time, RFID tags for compliance with the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative. The United States Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS) and USCIS official Sandra Schatz Landis were recently honored by GSN for the effectiveness of the new U.S. Green Card program.
“By combining our advanced optical security media with other standards-based smart card technologies supplied by our partners, our multi-layered ID credentials are raising the barriers against counterfeiting while advancing overall functionality and effectiveness,” said Robert DeVincenzi, president and CEO of LaserCard.
