Bioscrypt Fingerprint Technology Featured in HID’s new bioClass Product Offering

TORONTO, ON and VAN NUYS, CA, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/–(TSX:BYT) Bioscrypt Inc., a leading provider of advanced fingerprint technology, announced today that HID, the world’s largest manufacturer of contactless access control readers and cards for the security industry, will feature Bioscrypt’s fingerprint technology in their new bioCLASS offering. The bioCLASS product family, which will be marketed by HID, will provide customers added security for access to their facilities through the combination of a contactless smart card and a biometric identifier. Examples of integrated Bioscrypt and HID offerings will be on display at the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) convention in New Orleans beginning September 15, 2003. Bioscrypt booth No. 443 and HID booth No. 1517.

“HID has long recognized Bioscrypt as a leader in biometric access control devices. This leadership role has been validated recently in conjunction with deployments that involve HID’s iCLASS technology such as Little Rock National Airport in Arkansas,” said Denis Hebert, President and CEO for HID. “It was critical for HID to be able to offer Bioscrypt technology as part of our new bioCLASS offering.”

HID will offer a bioCLASS solution based on Bioscrypt’s OEM fingerprint module. This module combines Bioscrypt’s industry leading fingerprint algorithm (ranked first in the Fingerprint Verification Competition 2002), with a powerful processor from Texas Instruments and the latest in fingerprint sensing technology, the AES8500 from AuthenTec Corporation. The offering is scheduled to be available from HID in early 2004.

“HID and Bioscrypt have successfully collaborated on numerous biometric opportunities over the last few years. Together we have established strong sales channels into government and commercial end users who are now using our combined solutions,” said Pierre Donaldson, President and CEO for Bioscrypt. “HID’s decision to feature Bioscrypt’s technology in their new bioCLASS offering further builds on our long standing relationship and ensures that end users will have access to the most robust and accurate fingerprint technology available.”

HID’s new bioCLASS access control solution offers one-to-one biometric template authentication (one security credential and only one person who can use it). In the new system, fingerprint templates will be securely stored on iCLASS smart cards, making the solution well-suited for installations spanning multiple sites.
