Family Dollar Installs 10,000 VeriFone Omni 3750 Terminals for Payment and Prepaid Telco

End-to-End Solution Allows Family Dollar to Offer Payment Options, EBT and Prepaid Telco All at the Point of Sale

SANTA CLARA, CA, (MARKET WIRE), 01/12/2004–VeriFone, Inc., the world’s leading provider of payment solutions, announced today leading discount retailer Family Dollar has successfully installed over 10,000 VeriFone Omni 3750 payment terminals in over 5,000 locations throughout the United States.

VeriFone partnered with retail systems integrator Direct Source to deliver a true end-to-end payment solution for the North Carolina-based retailer, which included application development, software design and installation, project management and hardware deployment.

Family Dollar selected VeriFone’s Omni 3750 payment terminal following a detailed analysis by the POS team. The terminal is certified by Concord EFS, meets the latest Triple DES security standards, and is smart card ready. Also, the solution enables immediate acceptance of electronic payments and the activation of prepaid phone cards.

The ability to provide Family Dollar customers with value-added services was one of the keys to the VeriFone win. Atlanta based PRE Solutions, Inc., is providing prepaid telecom services directly from the VeriFone Omni 3750 payment terminals.

VeriFone and Direct Source delivered on an aggressive rollout schedule. All 10,000 terminals and back office systems were successfully installed and running in just under eight weeks, allowing Family Dollar to meet the 2003 holiday rush with time to spare.
