Gemalto Smart Enterprise Guardian Named Best Personal Portable Security Device by Network Products Guide

DIGITAL ID WORLD 2008, Anaheim, Calif., Sept 8, 2008–Gemalto (Euronext NL0000400653 GTO), the world leader in digital security, today announced its Smart Enterprise Guardian was named Best in the Personal Portable Security Devices category and a winner of a Network Products Guide 2008 Best Products and Services Award. The Smart Enterprise Guardian (SEG) is a unique, multi-function personal USB network security device jointly developed by Gemalto and Lexar Media, a leading global provider of memory products for digital media.

“Our collaborative development with Lexar was essential in coming up with this convenient approach to securing both portable storage and network identity in a single device,” said Jerome Denis, marketing director for Identity Access Management at Gemalto. “We take a lot of pride in winning this Personal Portable Security Devices category, because we are squarely focused on innovative digital security solutions that protect people and their digital assets, wherever they are.”

The SEG delivers the highest levels of security, convenience and manageability for online personal identities. It protects digital identity credentials and several gigabytes of sensitive files on a single USB flash drive with Gemalto’s proven .NET secure smart card technology. It also provides a simple and convenient means for strong authentication, digital signature and file encryption. The SEG is fully integrated in Microsoft Vista and ILM environments, featuring an intuitive user interface and requiring no middleware or software to load and set-up on the PC. In addition, the SEG supports OATH One Time Passwords (OTP), so customers can start quickly with a simple OTP authentication and then move to the more advanced Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) using the same device.

Gemalto also offers a comprehensive online service for issuing and administering the SEG and other strong authentication devices. Following the Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model, Gemalto’s Device Administration Service (DAS) is available on-demand over the Web. This feature eliminates the need for enterprises to purchase a server or any piece of software when implementing strong, two-factor authentication for network end-point security.
