Hypercom’s SmartPayments Payment Processing Suite Is Certified for Windows Vista

Compatibility with Windows Vista-Based PCs Offers Enhanced Security

PHOENIX, June 14, 2007–Hypercom Corporation (NYSE: HYC) today announced that its SmartPayments™ solution suite has become the first electronic payment processing software to pass certification tests ensuring compatibility with Windows Vista. The Hypercom SmartPayments Client and SmartPayments Server product lines have earned the “Certified for Windows Vista” designations from Microsoft Corp.

The certified for Windows Vista logo helps ensure that Hypercom SmartPayments products work smoothly with Windows Vista-based PCs and enable merchants to make full use of the new security features and other enhancements of the new Microsoft operating system. Hypercom SmartPayments products still maintain their certifications for earlier-generation operating systems, including Microsoft Windows XP and Windows Server 2003.

“Products that carry the Certified for Windows Vista logo have met explicit standards of reliability and quality, and have been tested and proven to deliver a superior experience with Windows Vista,” said Dave Wascha, Director of Windows Client Product Management at Microsoft Corp. “We are pleased that the Hypercom SmartPayments solution suite carries the Certified for Windows Vista logo and takes advantage of the new technologies available in Windows Vista.”

“These certifications demonstrate our commitment to providing best-in-class payment processing solutions to merchants, keeping pace with their network infrastructure needs and providing optimal security,” said Bill Pittman, Vice President, Hypercom Payment Solutions. “By combining Payment Applications Best Practices certification from the card issuing associations with support for Windows Vista security upgrades, our SmartPayments suite offers an excellent defense against spyware, malware and data theft.”

Hypercom’s SmartPayments solution suite provides a secure, scalable platform for easily integrating payment processing solutions with point-of-sale, accounting/billing, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Internet shopping cart systems. Native support for XML Web Services permits cross-platform integration with Windows, Linux®, AS/400 and other applications, simplifying deployment and administration and minimizing the total cost of ownership. SmartPayments products can process credit, debit, Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT), electronic check services and gift/loyalty cards; support signature and check image capture and receipt retrieval for chargeback protection; interface with any client-side device including a PC, payment terminal, PIN pad, card reader or kiosk; and equip mid-sized merchants with large-store payment functionality.

SmartPayments Client adds electronic payment processing capabilities to any PC-based POS system, serving the growing number of retailers who are replacing traditional cash registers with software solutions that can not only record sales but also manage inventory, track customer information, and connect to back-office accounting systems. It captures electronic payment information either from a keyboard entry or PIN Pad, passes it to the integrated POS system, and routes transactions to SmartPayments Server or a third-party payment processor.

SmartPayments Server is a complete electronic payment processing solution that combines a comprehensive front-end payment application for retail, restaurant, mail-order/telephone-order and Internet transactions with a centralized transaction processing gateway that can run as an inexpensive in-store controller for smaller merchants, at corporate headquarters of multi-store operations, or in datacenters that process payments for multiple businesses. The product has a built-in browser-based virtual terminal for anytime/anywhere management by merchants or ISO/resellers.

Both SmartPayments products run on Windows XP, Windows 2003 and Windows 2000 operating systems, as well as Windows Vista.
